DICKIE BOSWELL MEMORIAL 200

AirDoug returns to Dominion Raceway after deciding not to run for the track championship for the first time in 4 years. Doug’s brother was also making his season debut this weekend, which caused the Barnes Racing crew to miss Friday practice.

On Saturday, Doug revealed that he would be changing his number from 88 to 6 just for the Dickie Boswell Memorial race. He was honoring his friend Stephen Brewer, who is currently battling brain cancer. The number 6 Ferrari was no where near the top of the speed charts in practice and it also had its worst qualifying run of the season at 7th. We were set to race at 7 PM sharp, but the rain had other plans. The 200 lap night race would be pushed back until 1 PM the next day.

Rolling off 7th, Doug would play the tire conservation game perfectly! He drove his way through the field over the course of 140 laps. He gained the lead and never looked back on lap 150. He did have to fend off some tough competitors on a late race green, white, checkered, but his tires held up and Doug won the biggest race of his career so far!
